AQUARIST NEEDED AND ABLE TO RELOCATE IN USA

Ever wanted to live and work on a tropical Pacific island with white sand beaches, year round warm blue waters, great diving right from shore, lush mountains, waterfalls, caves... etc...etc.? Well Guam is just such an island and UnderWater World Guam is now accepting applications for Aquarists. Our main exhibit is 800,000 gallons in volume and boasts the world's longest underwater tunnel. The facility has more than 50 displays that highlight fresh water, salt water, and terrestrial habitats. We house 9 species of elasmobranchs, more than 1500 fish, reptiles, and invertebrates. Below is a description of the position responsibilities as well as the skills, experience, and education the ideal candidate would possess.

Summary: This position is responsible for all aspects of care and maintenance for a variety of aquarium exhibits and the animals which inhabit them. Aquarists participate in regular diving expeditions to collect aquarium specimens aboard the company boat. The Aquarist will monitor water quality, life support systems, and maintain facility records. This position will also participate in guest interaction activities, including dive programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in marines science field or equivalent work experience
Open Water SCUBA Certification
Good knowledge of water chemistry, life support systems, animal disease diagnosis and treatment, lighting, exhibit design, and quarantine procedures

Physical ability to lift heavy objects up to 60 lbs and fit into tight spaces
Ability to speak, read, and write English and be able to communicate efficiently with fellow team members and the public

Must pass physical examination within 90 days (required for diving)
Preferred Qualifications

Rescue Diver or higher SCUBA certification
Experience as a Scientific Diver and familiarity with AAUS standards

Experience working in an AZA accredited facility and familiarity of AZA standards
Small boat handling and specimen collecting experience
CPR/First Aid training and certification
Oxygen provider certification
